The Maroondah Singers are working hard on learning a new program for our Annual Concert in early spring, 11th September, 2016. We have quite an international cornucopia of numbers, with songs in Latin, Hebrew and even a little bit of Japanese.
Our 2016 Annual Concert is aptly entitled The Magic of Melody. It is brimming over with wonderful much loved melodies: songs old and new, light hearted, and contemplative from the world of classical song, opera, musical theatre and classic pop. From Lerner and Loewe (Camelot & Brigadoon medley) to Mozart (Ave Verum), enjoy beautiful love songs and lullabies, songs of other lands (Umi Sono Ai, Erev Shel Shoshanim, Homeward Bound), songs in praise of God and songs full of the joy of life.
Our 2016 Vocal Scholar, tenor Lyndon Green will delight you with his solo performances as well as singing with the choir and our chorister Nadia Migliardi. And of course our own accompanist John Atwell will show his inimitable talent on stage.
The Maroondah choristers are supported greatly in our learning with the song files generated for us using Sibelius software by Geoff Walton and John Evans. Thank you to Geoff and John, Maroondah Singers are very appreciative of your efforts on our behalf. What a great program we have again this year and once again our sincere thanks to Lyn Henshall for her superlative musical direction and also to John Atwell for his assistance in such matters. Keep up the good work choristers, practice well and keep warm whilst doing so.
